21 Blackjack is a truly iconic casino classic, not to mention the world’s most popular casino card game! Hosted at Palace casino in the heart of Romania in Bucharest, you will go head to head with the dealer to get a card value that is as close to 21 as possible, without going over this amount. Although this game sounds simple, it requires courage, patience and strategy to have your best chance of beating the dealer!
The origins of blackjack are quite unknown, the game is believed to have originated in France under the name “Vingt-et-Un” which simply means “twenty and one” in French. The name “blackjack” originated when the game was first introduced to the US, with a ten to one payout being offered for a hand with an ace of spades and blackjack.
All the picture cards are worth 10 points, and ace cards will be worth either 1 or 11. Any other cards will be worth the value written upon them. When the first two cards in a hand add up to 21, by having an ace and a picture card which is worth ten points, a Blackjack has occurred.
When you first place your bet in blackjack, the dealer will give you two cards. You will be a winner if you have a Blackjack from these cards. If you don’t have a blackjack from these cards, then you will be able to improve your hand in a variety of ways; drawing with the dealer on 16 or less, doubling your bet and buying another card (which will also double the amount that you win), splitting your cards into two hands if they are the same value by adding the same amount as the amount that you first bet with, placing an insurance bet against the dealer being able to make a Blackjack, or giving up half of what you bet by surrendering to the house.
